The Mountainside Public Schools are proud of the pupils, staff and community. The district has two schools that have operated efficiently and have produced student achievement that has earned them the distinction of being one of the top rated schools in the state of New Jersey. The Beechwood School houses the pupils in Pre-K to Second grade and the Deerfield School houses the pupils from grades three to eight. We blend together the best of the new and the traditional to strive for excellence.

The faculty and staff look upon each of our 700 pupils as unique individuals. Our teachers strive to find ways to help each child build a strong foundation for continued academic, social and emotional growth. The entire faculty is involved in the learning process implementing strategies to develop the whole child.

The district offers a challenging curriculum preparing pupils for life, including basic academics and practical applications in the primary grades. Followed by preparation for the High School in the upper grades. All students participate in Art, Music, World Language, Computers, Technology and Life Skills.

Efforts to enhance the quality of instruction is ongoing. Responding to the New Jersey Department of Education Core Curriculum Standards is being used as a basis for classroom planning. Teachers include specific objectives in their weekly planbooks. Inservice is also given to the staff throughout the year.
