What a wonderful job our Literary Magazine club did putting together this edition, under the direction of Mrs. Topel.  It's a  spectacular culmination of the works in creative writing and artistry from our talented Deerfield students throughout the school year.  Congratulations on a beautiful publication! Folio Literary Magazine 2026

Mr. Kinney and the Board of Education recognized important community partners at the June meeting.  The Watts Foundation have granted thousands of dollars to our schools and have impacted what our teachers can provide to our students.  We are so grateful for their ongoing generosity and support.  Also recognized were our Class II officers and our crossing guards for keeping us all safe.

A battle for the ages...adults vs. kiddos at our annual Field Day.  What a great day for some competitive fun!  Any guesses who won?

It's a tradition for our 8th grade class to take a trip to Washington, DC. They lucked out with some beautiful weather - sunshine and mild temperatures. Thank you to Mr. Young for all the time he put into planning the trip and making it look effortless. Thank you to all the teacher and parent chaperones, we couldn't do this trip without you!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! What a sweet way to kick off the week! There is no way to equate the gratitude we have for you and the work you do adequately with gifts and goodies, however, I hope it represents just a token of our thanks and appreciation!!! Thank you to the MEF for their generous gift card raffle, and to the PTO for filling in the rest of the week with wonderful surprises of things to eat, drink and gift cards!

All year long we strive to teach our kids about the importance of caring for our planet, and how beneficial it can be when every one of us pitches in to do a little, those actions amount to a WHOLE LOT! Our learning about the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) was especially in focus as we thought about ways our students can help... turning off lights, shutting off the faucet when brushing teeth, making sure all trash goes in a trash can, and recycling all we can everywhere we go! 

Neurodiversity Week heightens awareness about what neurodiversity means, understand that everyone’s brain works in different ways, and learn that those differences are something to celebrate! Both schools created an "Out of this World" display going with the theme: Just like stars in our solar system, everyone is unique. Together, we create a universe full of creativity, strength, and possibility!

Congratulations and thank you to Mr. Rosenblum, Mrs. Somers-Guerrasio, Ms. Kelliher, Mr. Mikula, and Mrs. Arena for your infinite hours and dedication to the cast and crew of Matilda to get them ready to put on their incredible performances. Congratulations to the Deerfield students who are part of the Matilda cast and crew for your hard work and passion to the arts. We are so proud of what you have accomplished. Thank you to the army of parent volunteers, teachers, and staff members who work behind the scenes to make it all happen.  Bravo!

4th Graders got creative with anti-drug awareness posters.

Our teachers have done an exceptional job preparing students for their next educational journeys. Year after year, it is commendable that our students outperform both the state and comparable districts on every level of these assessments.  NJSLA and DLM State test results for 2025 were shared at our October Board of Education Meeting.  Great job Mountainside!
