  • It is the policy of the Mountainside School District not to discriminate on the basis of race,culture, religion, sex, gender/gender identities, national origin, socio-economic status, ordisabilities in its educational programs or activities and employment policies, as required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments 1972 (prohibiting sex discrimination in education), N.J.A.C. 6:4 (Equality in Education Program), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities). The Board’s affirmative action program shall recognize and value the diversity of persons and groups within society and promote the acceptance of persons of diverse backgrounds regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status.

     
    The affirmative action program will also promote equal educational opportunity and foster a learning environment that is free from all forms of prejudice, discrimination, and harassment based upon race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status in the policies, programs, and practices of the Board of Education. Copies of the District’s Comprehensive Equity Plan are available to be viewed at the Board of Education office located at 1497 Woodacres Drive. Additional applicable policies can be located on the District website.
    If an employee, student or parent feels that he/she has been discriminated against, they should file a written grievance with the Affirmative Action Officer who will investigate all allegations.
